Turkey Meatball Subs - Turkey meatballs cooked in a flavorful sauce, stuffed into a sub roll and smothered in melted mozzarella cheese. Everyone will love these!

 1 lb Ground Turkey - 94%
 1 Egg
 ½ cup Breadcrumbs
 1 tsp Dry Basil
 2 tsp Garlic Powder
 1 tsp Onion Powder
 1 tsp Salt
Kosher Salt to sprinkle on top
Tomato Sauce
28 oz Can of Steam Peeled Tomatoes
 5 Cloves of Garlic
 1 tbsp Dry Basil
1 cup Red Onion - Diced
½ cup Yellow Onion - Diced
 1 ½ tsp Salt
 ½ tsp Black Pepper
 ¼ cup Olive Oil
2 tbsp Olive Oil - for cooking onions
 Sub Rolls
 Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Mix all meatball ingredients (NOT the Kosher salt) together in a large bowl with your hands.

Roll into roughly 1.5 inch balls (we were able to get 12 meatballs out of it) and put on a plate.

Sprinkle the tops with kosher salt and put aside.

Tomato Sauce

Drizzle 2 Tablespoons of olive oil in sauce pan on medium low heat. Add the onions and sauté until translucent.

While the onions are cooking, put the rest of the ingredients into a food processor and puree on high.

When the onions are finished cooking, add the food processor mixture to the pan and mix together.

Place the meatballs in the sauce and bring to a boil for five minutes.

Stir and bring it down to a simmer for about 15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through. (You can continue cooking longer if you would like a thicker sauce.)

Cut a pocket into your sub rolls and stuff them with meatballs. Pour some sauce over the top and sprinkle liberally with shredded mozzarella cheese.

Put subs on a tray and place under the broiler on high until the cheese is melted.
