Pizza Burgers

Pizza Burgers - A burger, cooked like a meatball and covered in your favorite pizza toppings! Comfort food at its best!

Tomato Sauce
 1 28 oz Can Whole Steamed Peeled Tomatoes
 6 Cloves Garlic
 4 tsp Dry Basil
 ¼ cup Olive Oil
 1 ½ tsp Kosher Salt
 ½ tsp Black Pepper
 ½ Red Onion
Burgers
 ½ lb Ground Meat - We used 99% Lean Turkey
 2 tbsp Bread Crumbs
 1 Egg
 1 tsp Dried Basil
 1 tsp Onion Powder
 1 tsp Garlic Powder
 ½ tsp Kosher Salt
 1 pinch Black Pepper
 2 Toasted Burger Buns
 Pizza Toppings of your Choosing
 2 Slices Provolone Cheese
 2 Slices Mozzarella Cheese
Tomato Sauce

Put all sauce ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth.

Mix all burger ingredients together in a medium bowl.

Form the mixture into two patties of equal size.

Pour the sauce out of the food processor into a sauce pan and gently place the patties into it.

Boil on medium high until the meat is cooked through, stirring occasionally without mushing the burgers.

Toast a bun then place a slice of mozzarella on the bottom half, and prepare your pizza toppings. (The hot patty will melt the cheese when you build your burger.)

Melt provolone slices onto the burgers in the sauce pan.

Build your burgers adding your pizza toppings. Make sure to keep a good amount of the sauce on the burger as you build. We used sautéed onions and mushrooms on ours.
