I am writing this from the audience of a very special wrestling show in my living room. Ellis, a.k.a. Crazy Master has been putting on quite a show against the formidable giant Peep stuffed animal. His special moves are Lightening Shots and the Peep Crasher!

This particular arena has some really excellent ring side snacks, my personal favorite being the cornbread. Steven Michael’s cornbread recipe is so easy to make, and so easy to eat an entire pan of in one sitting. You have been warned!

You just might need to pay Crazy Master to come over and put you in the Peep Crasher when you try to go back for your fourth or fifth piece!

What would your wrestling name/special moves be? Let us know in the comments below!

Pepperoni Bread

Do you ever wake up in the morning and think, how can I eat as many carbs as humanly possible today? Just me? Ok then ….

Well, if you ever do happen to have that particular craving, look no further than Steven Michael’s Pepperoni Bread! We used turkey pepperoni because we’re awesome or lame depending on who you’re asking.

After downing a loaf each, Steven Michael and I sat in our Pepperoni Bread comas watching Dawson’s Creek. Fun fact, we met when a mutual friend discovered our shared love for the Creek and brought us together. Though we’ll never agree on who should have ended up with Joey (clearly Pacey and I won’t hear any of this Dawson nonsense), we like to watch reruns on our date nights and fight about it. True Love (if you get that reference, you’re our kind of people). Steven Michael even proposed to me on the actual creek in Wilmington, NC while we were on a road trip down to Disney. Yes, I was being a jerk about making the extra out of the way stop, and yes, I swiftly put my foot in my mouth.

How did you meet your significant other or best friend? Did you almost ruin your own proposal by being a jerk? Tell us about it in the comments below!

Banana Bread

I’m writing this on Sunday morning, sitting on the couch with a blanket crocheted by my late Grandmother, Nanny, covering my legs and feet. Steven Michael is working on his next creation in the kitchen nearby, and we’re listening to music together on the stereo. Our couch is in front of a beautiful picture window, and I’m watching snow falling outside.

At any other time, this would be my heaven. I love snow and the crisp clean white it covers everything with. I am fortunate to be able to enjoy all of the beauty and excitement of snow while avoiding all of the downsides. My hip and back injuries prevent me from being able to shovel, so Steven Michael takes care of the driveway. I work from home, so I don’t have to navigate treacherous driving conditions for my commute. Plus, being a December baby, snow means my birthday and Christmas are in sight!

However, Mother Nature is just messing with Western New York at this point. After a long winter, she sent us a week of legitimate Spring weather. She sprinkled a few days close to 70 degrees in, getting us excited to spend the weekend outside soaking in the sunshine. NOPE. Saturday morning brought us back down into the 20s and 30s as the day went on, and today we have snow. If I’m being completely honest, this doesn’t bother me. I’m content here in my spot on the couch, but I recognize that Ellis is going a little stir crazy and some time in the sun is helpful for everyone.

Speaking of feeling cozy and content, there is nothing more comforting than the smell of something delicious baking filling the house. Last night, as we were winding down for the day, Steven Michael whipped up some Banana Bread and set it to cool as we tucked Ellis in for the night. As I’m not a huge fan of bananas, it has always surprised me how much I love Banana Bread. Bread is really a misleading name for it, it’s more like cake. Toddler tip, if you call anything “cake” a picky eater will try it. Ellis asked for “banana cake” right away – sucker!

I have no doubt that you will all enjoy Steven Michael’s take on Banana Bread. It’s sweet, moist and soft, with a sugary crust coating the top (for real, it’s basically cake). The added bonus of yummy smells is just icing on that cake. Last night, we all fell asleep with the scent of freshly baked goodness filling our noses, a true joy that I wish for all of you!

Comment below or on any of our social media platforms if you give this one a try! We’ll be back soon with another great recipe!
